The Ranch

Coyote Ranch is located in Goodsprings, what is described as, a few coyote breaths from Las Vegas. Driving out to Goodsprings one leaves the glitter and bright lights on the other side of a near by mountain. The only sign that the city of "Glitter & Bright Lights" is near by is the illumination of the night sky over the mountain north-east of town.

The community as a whole could be described as "laid-back". The local saloon is the only gathering place left in the Community after years of the erosion of time laid on our small town which once thrived in the years of mining, early in the 20th century. When one of the Old timers makes the statement, "Goodsprings was once larger than Las Vegas. In fact people from Las Vegas used to drive out to Goodsprings on the 4th of July to see the fireworks", this statement is hard to imagine. One does have to realize the given year is what is meant here.

Coyote Don and his Coyotess (like princess, female coyote) are the proud proprietors of Coyote Ranch. Their spread is located by driving through town to the STOP sign. Then looking to the left, it's quite visible. Visitors are welcome at the ranch year round. Coyote Don, himself, is quite often there to greet people and give them his 25 cent tour of the ranch which usually ends with a cup of coffee and Coyotess' home-made Brownies served on the front porch with lots of conversation and a few good stories.

Coyote Don has been around for a number of years, retiring from the main stream of life to sell and help with the construction of Log & Strawbale Homes. A character and folk legend to many, his aim in life is to keep as he says, "A little bit of the old west alive" and that's exactly how it goes. Coyotess, on the other hand, dabbles in a little bit of this and a little bit of that - Liking to bake, make quilts, write stories as well as dabble somewhat in many of the other arts.
