Great hat for keeping the sun off
I needed a new hat for a cruise we were taking and this one looked like it would work well. It has a nice wide brim to keep me in the shade as much as possible.I ordered the large size. I usually wear size 7 3/8 and the large fits comfortably but not what I would call snug. I was concerned that if I wore it on a breezy day it wouldn’t stay put for long. Instead of a regular hatband the hat has a cloth hatband that has a drawstring inside it. I tightened the drawstring so it gripped my head a bit but was still relatively comfortable. It worked great and looked great (in my opinion) on our cruise. The only drawback was that, since it was a string gripping my head instead of a band, when I took my hat off for a selfie there was a red line across my forehead. So I just kept the hat on for the picture.The description of the hat says it’s packable using what they call a “soft taco” fold, but I didn’t want to try putting it in my suitcase so I just wore it on the trip to the port. So I can’t say whether the hat is packable or not.I’m glad I bought this hat and hope to wear it for many more cruises to come.

Good-looking, functional hat that travels well
I usually wear 7 5/8. The L/XL was slightly big but easily adjusted to perfect fit with adjustable inner band. It traveled to Rome folded in a suitcase and popped back into shape. I wore it for 8 days in Rome, folding it up and carrying it in a shoulder bag when I didn’t need it without a problem. I never wore it in heavy rain but light rain didn’t bother-I thoroughly Scotch-guarded it before I left. I found it to be cool and comfortable in mid-70s, sunny weather. All in all, a good-looking, functional hat that travels well.

I ordered for my husband for a recent vacation, loved it is adjustable and easy to do a taco fold and pack in suitcase. I think it looks really nice and love the face, ears and some neck protection. Would definitely recommend and/or purchase again in the future. It held up beautifully on a recent trip and getting ready to use again. Well worth every penny.

Perfect for Caribbean Road Trip
I wanted a packable wide brimmed hat to keep the sun off my head on a trip to Trinidad & Tobago. I checked websites for this hat and Tilley hat. Wallaroo clearly indicated that all of their hats were foldable and packable; Tilley made vague statements so I emailed them and was told that they were indeed packable – you could stuff them with socks and pack around them in luggage. Well I ordered them both anyway just to try them on and actually see how well they would pack. Tilley arrived with a stiff brim bent in the shape of a box – it looked like crap and there was no way that it was going to flatten out; back in the box it went for return. The Wallaroo Palmer arrived folded in two; it sprang out into perfect shape as soon as it was taken out of the bag. Its weave flexes and compresses in the plane of the fabric so it allows the hat to spring in and out when folded down the center line of the hat. It holds its shape nicely. The weave is light and the hat feels nice and cool on the head. I measured according to the sizing chart and ordered the L/XL. It is slightly loose on my head but fits perfectly once I tighten up and tie the sizing string located in the internal sweatband. I would order the next size down if I was to buy the hat again; or order two sizes and return the one that doesn’t fit. Fashion wise my wardrobe includes a number of Cubavera brand guayabera shirts and the comments from several ladies, including my wife, is that the hat is “niiiiiice”. I like it and would buy another.

Nice hat, not UPF50
Love the hat, crushes and restores well, light weight, fits nicely. My only complaint is I wish it was UPF50–this company has another that is rated, but I don’t think it looks as nice as this one. Nicely made.

Nice and well packed hat
This is a very nice hat that is easy to adjust to fit really well and provides nice sun protection. In addition, it is packed in a box and not folded in a bag like many other hats, so no creases. One other bonus is that it is flexible so that it can be folded, soft taco style, for travel.

Three clothing items you shouldn’t buy online!
There are things that aren’t wise to buy online or from a catalog. For me, that’s proven true for jeans, shoes and now, hats! This IS a well-made item. The size is adjustable and it really does crush down for packing and then snap right back into shape when you unpack it. But, while I imagined looking something like Indiana Jones or Panama Jack, in this hat I look more like Farmer John. When I hit the beach, I think people wonder where I parked my tractor. On the other hand, it might look killer–on YOU! And thus, the rub!

The hat arrived in perfect condition not at all squished, and it is a very nice quality. Pretty sure it will fit fine, but since it’s a gift I don’t know for sure until after Christmas. I tried it on as a quick measure and it seems like it will be fine. I think the receiver will like it very much.
